Lala, Huddersfield

Lala restaurant in Huddersfield set out to create one of the most visually spectacular dining experiences in the north of England, and commissioned IVY CRUZ to design a botanical installation that would become the defining visual element of the space. The brief was ambitious: a full ceiling installation that would transform every square foot of the dining room into an immersive botanical paradise.

Our team designed and installed an extraordinary full-ceiling bougainvillea canopy, covering the entire restaurant space with cascading branches of vibrant blooms in rich shades of hot pink, deep red, and violet-purple. The installation was engineered to flow naturally around the restaurant’s structural columns and crystal chandeliers, with the blooms appearing to cascade and drape organically — as though the space had been engulfed by a tropical garden in full flower.

The installation creates a dramatic visual layering: guests look up to find the crystal chandeliers — themselves spectacular — now framed and encircled by a riot of colour, as bougainvillea blooms press in from every side. Elsewhere in the restaurant, more intimate floral arrangements complement the ceiling installation, with lush table-height botanicals and column dressings in tonal shades of blush, mauve, and deep purple adding depth and richness to every corner of the dining room.

The result is a space that is genuinely transformative — one where the botanical installation is not merely decorative but is central to the entire guest experience. Lala has become celebrated for its extraordinary interior, and the IVY CRUZ botanical scheme is at the heart of that identity, creating an atmosphere that is simultaneously dramatic, romantic, and utterly unforgettable.
